Track your applications

What each application status means and how employers move you along.

The Nchito app is on its way. These guides describe it as it will work at launch.

Every job you apply to with easy apply appears in the Applications list in the Nchito app, with the status the employer has given it.

What each status means

  • Submitted. Your application has reached the employer. Nobody has opened it yet.
  • Viewed. The employer has looked at your application.
  • Shortlisted. The employer wants to consider you further. They contact you directly, by phone or email, using the details you gave.
  • Rejected. The employer has decided not to go ahead with your application for this job.
  • Hired. The employer has marked you as hired for this job.

The employer changes the status, not Nchito. Some employers update every application and some do not, so a status that stays on Submitted does not always mean nobody has read it.

Your week in numbers

The Applications screen shows how many applications you sent this week and where they stand. If your profile is visible to employers, it also shows how many employers opened it. See Let employers find you.

Every Monday morning Nchito can email you the same summary for the week before.

Jobs you applied to elsewhere

Applications you send on an employer's own site or by email go to that employer directly, so they do not appear in this list. Keep a note of those yourself, with the date you applied.

When to follow up

If a job's closing date has passed and the status has not changed, it is fine to contact the employer politely and ask whether the position has been filled. Use the contact details in the listing, and say which job you applied for and when.
