Privacy policy
How Nchito handles your personal information.
Last updated: 9 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information DHM Group ("we", "us") collects through Nchito, why, and what choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the laws of Zambia, including the Data Protection Act, 2021.
What we collect
- Account details. If you create an account: your name, email address, optional phone number, and a password. Passwords are stored only as a one-way hash.
- Your applications. If you apply in the app: the resume you choose, an optional cover note, and the details of the application and its status.
- Talent profile. If you publish a talent profile, what you put in it, so employers can find you.
- Employers. Company name and details, the people who manage the account, and the jobs and applicants they handle.
- Reports. If you report a job, the reason and any details you write. You do not need an account to report a job; for a report without an account we keep a one-way fingerprint of your network address to stop repeat reports.
- Technical data. Our servers record your IP address, device and request details in logs, and count job views, clicks on apply links and e-mails, and searches, to keep the service secure, stop abuse and understand how it is used. Search words are stored without your account or address. When an employer opens your public talent profile we record that it was viewed, so we can show you how many employers looked at it. Logs do not contain passwords or tokens.
What stays on your phone
Without an account, the app keeps on your phone: jobs you saved, recent searches, jobs you applied for on other sites, and your job alert choices. Job alerts use notifications created by the app itself; the check for new jobs asks our server only for the public list of jobs and sends no personal information. If you create an account later, your saved jobs are copied to it. You can clear this data by removing the app's data or uninstalling it.
How we use it
To run the service (accounts, applications, alerts), to show you jobs, to keep Nchito secure and prevent fraud and abuse, to contact you about your account or applications, to improve the service, and to meet legal duties. We do not sell your personal information.
Crash reports and app statistics
The Nchito app uses Google Firebase to receive crash reports, measure how fast the app and our servers respond, and count how the app's features are used (for example how many people open a job or send an easy apply application). Usage events never include your name, e-mail address, phone number, CV, cover notes or what you search for. Crash reports describe the technical error; we remove e-mail addresses, access codes and the query part of web links before they are sent, and we never attach your profile, CV or cover notes. Firebase also records technical details such as your phone model, operating system and an app instance number. You can turn this off at any time in the app under Profile > Share usage and crash reports.
Who sees it
- Employers. When you apply in the app, the employer receives your name, contact details, cover note and resume. If you publish a talent profile, employers can see it, and verified employers can send you a message through Nchito, which we deliver to your e-mail. We do not show them your e-mail address or phone number; they see them only if you reply.
- Other sites. For External jobs you apply on another site, which has its own privacy practices. We do not send them your details.
- Service providers. We use providers for hosting, storage and email who process data only on our instructions.
- Advertising providers. Google AdMob and its partner networks receive the technical information described under Advertising when ads are shown.
- Authorities. We may disclose information when the law requires it or to protect people and the service.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and applications until you delete your account or ask us to. Short-lived security data (login tokens, rate-limit counters, old job-run records) is removed automatically after a short time. Records we must keep by law are kept for as long as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, to object to certain uses, or to withdraw consent, by writing to us (see the contact page). You can also complain to the data protection authority in Zambia. You can turn job alerts off in the app at any time.
Security
We use encrypted connections, hashed passwords, access controls and monitoring. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Children
Nchito is not meant for people under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Advertising
The app shows advertisements, labelled as ads: native ads between jobs and a banner on job pages. They are provided by Google AdMob and by advertising networks that work with it (mediation partners, currently including Meta Audience Network and InMobi). To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, these providers may collect and use information from your device, such as your advertising ID, IP address, device and app details, and how you interact with ads. They act under their own privacy policies, not ours, and we do not send them your name, email, resume or applications. You can limit ad personalisation or reset your advertising ID in your phone's settings. We do not sell your personal information.
Changes
We will update this policy when our practices change and show the date above.
